"I had a great time rowing her around Baltimore's harbour.  She consistently attracts approving nods and waves from captains of beautiful yachts... 'Dreamboat' performs admirably in a variety of wind-sea combinations.  Wiht increasing strength, stamina and calluses, I'm itching to broaden my range by breaking out into Chesapeake Bay and beyond.  Thanks for making such a sweet little boat."

About Rossiter

Thirty-five years ago, George Rossiter decided he didn’t want to be a doctor like both his parents, or a fast-track business whiz like most of his friends. He wanted to build boats. And stubbornly, that’s what he did. He built rowing boats – not the little square-bottom thing that gets you from the dock to the yacht, but sleek, streamlined boats, through which a person could find both fitness and peace. He studied marine architecture, and built his boats for the ultimate in style and function, using fibreglass for his hulls and teak to embellish his decks. He built hydrodynamic, smooth-in-the water boats, and created innovations like adjustable seats and foot rests, that others should have thought of but never did.
And he sold his boats, one at a time. Gradually, people got to know the Rossiter boat, and to trust it, and often, even to love it. Not everybody knows it, of course, because there will never be a lot of Rossiter boats. They will always be made slowly and carefully, by hand, the farthest way imaginable from mass production.
In 2007 George met Scott Hanson and a new chapter in the Rossiter story began. The two men shared a passion for boats and they quickly realized that here was an opportunity for both of them - Scott to realize his dream of once again building boats and George to pass on his legacy of knowledge and skill.
Growing up in the Thousand Islands Scott rowed his grandparent’s wooden St Lawrence skiff and started and ran a windsurfing shop and school while still in his teens. Then the real world beckoned and he made his way into advertising and communications – marketing products from Minwax to flour to financial services. But boats kept calling him and in 1993 he answered and attended the celebrated Landing School of Boat Building and Design in Kennebunkport, Maine where he graduated with honours in Yacht Design and Boat Building.
Now three years after moving the woodshop from George’s old property in Ravenna to the main shop in Meaford, Rossiter Boats has turned the corner or rounded the marker with Scott firmly at the helm and George always ready to pitch in when he can. Along with Trisha McHale in the woodshop, Marty Collins and Cory Young in the fiberglass shop, the team is hard at work producing some of the finest rowing boats and outboard powerboats all of which are as distinctive on the water as they are well made. Our boats have found homes as far away as Sweden, Kuwait and Oregon while many are close by on Georgian Bay. And everywhere they go people are coming to recognize the distinctive Rossiter look.
Rossiter Boats is now truly a combination of Scott and George’s skills and values – Yesterday’s Quality and Tomorrow’s Ideas.
